Our Story – The Heart of Mamma Pina

Mamma Pina’s story begins in a small village in southern Italy, where life was full of color, laughter, and the magic of the traveling circus. Born into a family of performers, Pina grew up under the big top—her childhood filled with the rhythm of music, the sparkle of costumes, and the roar of applause. From a young age, she learned the art of juggling, acrobatics, and storytelling, captivating audiences across Italy and beyond.

For decades, Mamma Pina toured the world, performing under the stars from Paris to Buenos Aires, Tokyo to New York. But no matter how far she traveled, one thing always brought her comfort: the taste of home. Between shows, she would cook for the crew—rustic pasta dishes from her grandmother’s recipes, simple pizzas with rich tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella. It became her way of bringing everyone together, a moment of warmth and family on the road.

After many years of life on the move, Mamma Pina decided to hang up her circus hat and follow another passion that had quietly grown in her heart—cooking. She settled in the sunny village of Corvera, Murcia, where she opened a little Italian restaurant, pouring her soul into every dish. The restaurant became more than a place to eat—it became a place where stories are shared, traditions are honored, and guests feel like family.

Giuseppina Curatola, lovingly known as Mamma Pina, is the heart and soul behind our restaurant. Born in southern Italy into a family of circus performers, she spent her early years traveling the world, captivating audiences with her talent and charm. Over time, her greatest passion shifted from the spotlight to the kitchen, where she found joy in sharing the traditional flavors of her homeland. Today, in Corvera, Murcia, Mamma Pina brings her unique story and love for Italian cuisine to life—specializing in homemade pasta and pizza made with warmth, tradition, and heart.

Jose Muñoz, our talented Sous Chef, brings both artistry and passion to every pizza he creates. Born into a renowned circus family, Jose once wowed audiences worldwide as one of the greatest wire walkers of his generation. But behind the daring performances was a deep love for Italian cuisine—especially pizza. Eventually, his passion led him off the wire and into the kitchen, where he perfected his own secret dough recipe and techniques. Today, Jose channels his precision, creativity, and dedication into every dish, making him an essential part of the Mamma Pina family.
